i’m so excited to come across your site! i need an area rug approximately 7×13—-odd size. never made a rug in any form before. approximately how many bedhsheets would i need (and what size bedsheets?) you mentioned you repurposed flannel bedsheets and it sounds like that would be very comfortable under your feet! thanks for your help!

This has got to be one of the best, simplest explanations and videos of a toothbrush rug I’ve found. Just bought Aunt Philly’s–2 patterns. Both are vague, seemingly intentionally so you buy the video! I like a more analytical approach, this is a glorified buttonhole stitch on a core–that makes it easier to understand!

Love your blog! Please do post about how to start an oval/circle rug. I’m having a terrible time with that first row of stitches and turns! Would very much like to see a tutorial on that.

For a crochet tool why not use the handle of a “Bum” toothbrush (if you can still find them.) Cut the brush off and enlarge the hole that’s in the end. Somebody has probably already posted this note – I just happened to hit the site and read about the needle made from wire.

All row ends are the same. When you get to the end of a row, chain 1 more then turn your work. Single crochet back across.

I’m looking for instructions on how to turn the 3rd corner for left handers. For some reason I can’t get the third corner and all instructions and diagrams are for right handers. Can you help?

I do not but thanks for the idea. I’ll try and work one up and see how it goes and post the pattern. I think you’d want to use thicker material for a baskit like T-shirt strips so it’ll stand up under it’s weight.
