TIGIFF! Thank Goodness It’s Fiber Friday
I’m more excited that it’s Friday than anything else. It has been a long and stressful week. This week I was running solo and I’m so thankful to have M.back. Juggling farm chores, house chores, manly chores, puppy chores, cat chores, hay bales, plowing, shoveling, coal stove maintenance, oh yeah and then there’s the day job as well as being OnCall for the day job. I’m beat!
I hardly got anything done for my fiber fun this week. I present to you the very beginning of the green/gold shawl. Question: does anyone know a tip for getting the twist out of new set of circular needles? The darn thing keeps curling on itself and its driving me nutty.
On a unrelated note I joined a gym. I’ve crested over the 200lb making me now 40lbs over the weight I was happiest at. So, I’m testing a gym out for the next month. I’ve never gone before so it is all new to me. My goal: Make an honest attempt to go every day for 1 hour. So far, I’ve only missed 1 day this week due to that darn OnCall phone. Argh. I wonder how the gym would like it if I’m using a computer and chatting away on the phone while using the treadmill?

Sounds Like You ghave your hands full!!
I want to find a way to looase some extra I put on but a gym is not an option I would have to drive 30-40 minutes to get to one..so I do hay for the critters, shovel poop, toenail trimming & shearing, so far not an ounce gone!,
Your shawl is looking lovely BTW

Wow! You certainly have been busy… I’m glad you got a little fibery fun in though. It looks so pretty so far. Congrats on the gym thing too… hope it works out for you. I can’t manage the gym so I’ve been doing videos at home for the past month. It’s been hard to stay motivated, but now that I’m starting to see results I “almost” want to hit play every day.

You’re hilarious! And busy!
Love the shawl, I second (or third?) the boiling water trick, and good luck at the gym!

I was laughing while reading all that work you are doing going solo this week. Cuz I can relate as I have a solo life all the time now. SO I’ll try not to feel SO bad when I can’t be as creative and productive with the fiber projects as you.
I always love to look and see what you are working on. You always make such pretty things!

I sympathize with you on the curling cables … I favor Clovers, and they have a wicked tight twist at first. It helps to store them in a straightened position, but as to the initial tightness, I haven’t had any luck.
Pretty shawl!

Hope you get some relaxation time in this weekend. I love the color you’re making your shawl in. I just can’t get enough green lately, must be all this snow everywhere making me miss the green. Dip those cables in boiling water, you may have to do it several times if you’re using the needles I think you are. They’re stubborn little buggers. Happy Fiber Arts Friday!

Yes, I’ve heard the boiling water trick also for circular needles. Good for you for joining a gym – you’ll soon feel better if nothing more than doing something for yourself!

I love your new project! PS I can’t imagine with all the work you do that you would need a gym, but good for you! I need to get back into my regimen too!
Here’s to a calm and peaceful weekend.
Wow, I got tired just reading about all your work!
Great job fitting in work outs during all that!
I agree with fiberdance for getting the twists out of circular needles. I always dip them into boiling water, works like a charm.
Happy Fibers on Friday….I hope you get a little relaxation in this weekend.
My circs just work themselves out…sorry no pointers for that. I love Addi’s and they don’t seem to have the twist problems.
I wish I could join the gym again but I don’t know when I would fit it in….argh!
I’ve gotten my circular needles straight by boiling a pan of water and dipping just the plastic cord into the water-not too long-try for 10 seconds first, dip again if needed-then pull taught. Be sure not to touch the plastic to the sides of the pan. Hope this works for you
