Guess what?! We finally had a live, healthy cria birth! YIPPY! I’m so excited and it got me out of my fiber funk.
Here she is, Calypso of Dutch Hollow
But you’re here because of the latest project I’m working on. 2 of my office mates’s wives are expecting babies themselves late this year and early next. So it’s time to whip up some baby blankets. Blanket number one is for an un-sexed baby. I’m told the nursery is a lime green so I’m thinking this quick and easy 80 stitch wide garter blanky will fit right in.
I’m using James C Brett Marble yarn which is an easy wash acrylic. Boy I’m spoiled constantly working with alpaca. Acrylic feels like crap to me and it’s so, well, synthetic and fake feeling. But, for a baby, it’s all about easy care and washability so acrylic it is.

Yay for baby knits in fun non-pastel colors! Bigger YAY for itty baby alpacas that are healthy (and jaw-droppingly cute)!
Super cute! Congratulations on the healthy cria birth.
What a cute cria. Congrats on having a live birth.
The blanket is going to be pretty.
Awwww, cute baby and I love the name!!!
She’s a pretty little gal, congratulations!!! And what a great name too!
So sweet!!! I could just love on that little bit all day. Good choice on the baby blanket. I hear you on the fiber content. Wait, how dare they call Acrylic a fiber! Fiber optic maybe.
Yay for the new cria – so fluffy looking!
As far as acrylics go, James C Brett Marble isn’t bad (although it can be a bit squeaky)… But I’m not surprised it feels rubbish when you’re so lucky to have alapca all the time (can you tell I’m jealous?!)
Calypso is so adorable! Congratulations to you and the momma!
