Moriesians:
The Moriesian is a result of a breeding program initiated in the USA to produce horses that combine the elegance and charisma of the Friesian with the versatility of the Morgan.
Dutch Hollow Acres has a superb Moriesian specimen with our versatile mare, Aurora LaBella Luna. Fancy name huh, around the barn she’s known as Cotton and has one of the best personalities I’ve met yet. Cotton has won many ribbons in Pleasure Driving, Combined Driving, Dressage, English Hunt Seat, Confirmation, and Competitive Trail.

Cotton is Pregnant!
Due: April 2011
Stud: Ivan-Reno
Breeding Method: AI Frozen
Expected Height: 15-15.2hh
We just loved this pairing so much we bred Cotton back to Ivan Reno for a spring 2011 foal.
Izzy was a very correct looking foal. She has her dad’s neck and proud posture. She naturally wants to stand square and will rack out like a Morgan. We were careful not to breed in poor Friesian club feet. Izzy’s hoof angle is correct and she does not stand on her tip toes. She has a strong wide back with a strong square croup. Her movement is free and light and at her age she canters everywhere which is considered a good sign of a future sport horse type.
We start training our foals at birth to lead, stand, pick up their feet, play with their ears, and look in their mouth. We immediately start desensitizing training and provide many different objects in paddocks for the foal to explore on their own. Their breeding naturally makes them a quiet and easy to handle horse. They are very curious and enjoy human contact without being pushy.
Our little girl Izzy had a pre-vet exam at 4 months and the vet was very impressed by how well she stood for an hour of attention. I believe his exact words were “this is the best behaved foal I have ever seen.”
Feel free to see the video’s and photos below of our 2010 foal, Izzy.
