What a great little girl. She was up and nursing within the hour, mom had great colostrum and at 9hrs old baby had a strong IgG. Vet check showed both mom and baby in great health and cleared them to go play outside. At 12 hrs old she was fitted with a halter and had her first lead lesson as we walked both of them to their paddock. She did great! She is very friendly and not shy, loves attention and scratches.

This gelding used to be a working trail horse up in the Adirondack mountains and was bought from a horse trader from somewhere down south. This boy is by far one of the sweetest horses I’ve met. He gives the best hugs and is very polite when handling him. He stood very well for my farrier who also remarked on how strong his feet are. He has been barefoot now for 6 months and is happy and sound.
I rode him for the first time in 6 months and he was ever the gentleman. He stood firm as I mounted up and didn’t walk off until I asked him to. He is gaited and has a very smooth ride. He picked up his canter easily and collects nicely. He took very light contact on the reins and didn’t run-away with me at all, I had to use leg or clucking to keep him going. Beautiful ride and I will be riding him 2-3x a week now that the weather is warm.
The only vice I can find with this horse is he needs his buddies. He hates being alone and blows and puts on quite the show. Good news is, when he is in this “panic” looking state he is still very respectful of humans and doesn’t push or drag you around. He has a ton of energy and does need to be lunged before riding to avoid any frisky bucks.
He is UTD on shots and my farrier and dentist are due to come out in April/May.
